Rod Stewart surprises street performer

In every big city around the world, you will find street performers and buskers showing their talent to the public. From dancers to musicians, who play every instrument you can think of, it is an amazing experience to stand and witness their performance. One lucky guitarist, experienced something that doesn’t happen much, he started playing a song and the person who performed the song came up and sang with him. The song the street performer started playing was “Handbags and Gladrags” and all of a sudden Rob Stewart showed up and started performing the song with him.

This was all filmed back in 2017, in London, as the guitarist started playing Stewart was standing close, then he joined him by singing the song. All if a sudden a normal street performance turned into a small concert. A small crowd gathered around to experience this once in a lifetime performance.

Stewart sounded amazing, and as the song came to an end, he left the spotlight to the young guitarist as the crowd erupted with huge applause. Even though it wasn’t all well prepared and rehearsed like he would have done before a concert, the performance was still an amazing experience for the crowd.

“Handbags and Gladrags” was a song that was on Stewart’s 1969 album called ‘An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down’. Stewart didn’t write the song, he also covered it, the original writer of the song was Mike d’Abdo, who wrote and performed the song two years before Stewart. But Stewart made the song a hit, since its release, the song has made its way in pop culture and numerous other artists have made their version of the song.

Stewart made a name for himself with the release of the song ‘Good Morning Little Schoolgirl’, and after that, his career skyrocketed. Over the years he has become a worldwide known musician. Adding to his numerous hits, Stewart has racked up many awards as well, like the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album that he won for his 2005 album called Stardust… The Great American Songbook Volume III. But Stewart has said in the past that his biggest honors he has received were from the British government.

Back in 2016, Queen Elizabeth knighted Stewart and continued to cite all of his great achievements and contributions in music and his wonderful charity work over the years.

This occurrence where famous singers, stumble upon buskers performing their songs is pretty rare, some other famous singers that have joined street performers in singing their songs are Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Seal and many more.
